I am 59 years old, and you may have recognised me trundling around Lee-on-the-Solent town centre on my mobility scooter, which I use most days.

My wife, Nicky, and I have lived in Lee for more than 10 years, and we’ve fallen in love with this seaside town.

​

I’ve never been politically motivated, but after watching the decline of our country, I struggle to see any real difference between the two main parties. They have, in my view, systematically ridden roughshod over the electorate. In fact, I didn’t even vote in the last election because I felt no one represented me. Some might say that means I have no right to complain about this government — and perhaps that’s fair — but I honestly couldn’t have predicted just how bad things would get.​​

My own background is in business — particularly electronics and housing — and I believe my real-world knowledge could help drive the change we all want and need.

I’ve also lived with MS for nearly 30 years, so I understand the challenges faced by our less mobile and aging residents, especially around accessibility. That’s something I’ll focus on improving.

Overall, I think the town is well run and most people seem happy with the facilities… but, as my wife says, “He never gives anything top marks — there’s always room for improvement.”
