Gill Farrington

Candidate for Lee West

I’m standing in the upcoming local elections for Reform UK because I believe both our country and our local communities are in need of change. I believe Reform UK can deliver that change — and I want to be part of it.

From the Mersey to the Solent, my career has been built on service. My perspective is shaped by a professional background in policing. I’ve spent my working life dealing with real-world problems, listening to people’s concerns and working to keep communities safe. I’m not a career politician — I’m someone who understands responsibility and knows how to get things done.

Lee-on-the-Solent is a special place. From peaceful walks along the beach to the genuine, friendly spirit of the people who live here — it has a unique character worth protecting. It’s calm, welcoming, and community-driven. People look out for one another. I am determined to help keep it that way.

Preserving the peace and protecting the quiet, friendly character of Lee is at the heart of why I’m standing. Safe streets matter. Families and retirees deserve to feel secure in their homes and neighbourhoods. My policing experience gives me the insight and determination to stand up for that.

Having lived in a large, vibrant city for many years, I truly appreciate what we have here. That perspective matters. I want to protect our community, strengthen it, and ensure local voices are properly heard.

Service runs in my family. With both Naval and Army roots, and family currently based in Gosport, I understand the importance of our military heritage. Whether it’s our links to the Royal Navy or the legacy of HMS Daedalus, these traditions are part of what makes Lee-on-the-Solent what it is — and they deserve to be respected and preserved.

Having spoken to local residents, it’s clear that practical improvements are needed. Better accessibility, including more dropped kerbs for elderly and disabled residents. Improved local services, such as the benefit of a second pharmacy. And action to tackle issues like reckless driving and boy racers during the summer months that disrupt the peace and safety of our community.

I believe in common-sense solutions. Cutting waste through sensible spending. Bringing transparency by ending secretive council decision-making. Holding regular community surgeries so your voice is heard and helps shape the future of Lee-on-the-Solent.

I’m straight-talking, accountable and focused on action — because real change comes from doing, not just promising.
