Debbie McGregor
Candidate for Anglesey
I was born at home in Paulsgrove and grew up proud to be a “Paulsgrove girl”, part of a close, working-class community built on hard work, pride, and looking out for one another. After marrying in 1979, I moved to Gosport over forty years ago, Gosport is not just where I live — it is my home. It is where I raised my four children, largely as a single parent, and where my teenage grandchildren are now growing up. I am proud of the area and of the people who make it what it is.
Living in Gosport for so long has given me a deep understanding of the challenges local families face. I want to ensure our community has good, reliable services and facilities that people can depend on — from local shops and transport to community spaces, schools, and support for young people and older residents alike. Our area deserves investment, care, and leadership that listens to residents and puts local needs first.
My parents instilled strong values in me that have stayed with me all my life. I have always worked and remained active in my community, teaching in adult education for many years and supporting local schools through PTAs when my children were young. As a baby boomer, I know I was fortunate to live through better times, and I now worry deeply about the future facing my children and grandchildren.
For over twenty-five years I have worked with bereaved families locally, and with generations of my family rooted here, Gosport truly feels like one big family. You’re never far from a friendly face in the shops or pubs, and that sense of community is something worth protecting.
I joined Reform UK because I believe it stands for ordinary people — the salt of the earth — and because I want to safeguard our British values and work for a stronger, fairer future, where communities in Gosport are respected, supported, and allowed to thrive for generations to come.
