David is proud to serve as Reform UK Councillor for Brockhurst & Privett, following the party’s strong gains across Gosport in the May 2026 local elections. With a lifetime of public service, leadership experience, and a strong commitment to the local community, David is determined to help deliver the change local residents have been calling for.

Born in Leeds, David joined the Army in 1978 and went on to build a distinguished military career spanning more than four decades. His service included work across Europe during the Cold War, peacekeeping missions in Bosnia and Kosovo, and two operational tours in Iraq. He also spent time in Sierra Leone helping to develop a veterans’ compensation scheme, strengthening his understanding of welfare support and public accountability.

During his final nine years in the Army, David worked within Defence Business Services at HMS Sultan, leading major organisational change across Ministry of Defence HR systems. Following promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, he served as Chief of Staff until retiring in 2022, gaining extensive experience in leadership, budgeting, and delivering effective public services.

For the past ten years, David has lived on Priddy’s Hard and has proudly served as founding Chair of the Friends of Hardway. Through his local work, including helping deliver free summer watersports events for Gosport families, he has seen first hand the importance of strong communities and visible local leadership.

David joined Reform UK because he believes Gosport deserves honest leadership, financial responsibility, and councillors who genuinely listen to residents and put local people first.

As Councillor for Brockhurst & Privett, David is committed to being visible, approachable, and hardworking for residents while delivering practical improvements that make a real difference to the local community.
