I was born in Leeds and joined the Army in 1978, beginning a long career of service during a time of global tension. Much of my early work was as an administrator in Europe throughout the Cold War, supporting operations behind the scenes and gaining a strong understanding of organisation, discipline, and public service.

Awarded a commission in 1998, I went on to serve on peacekeeping missions in Bosnia and Kosovo, as well as completing two tours in Iraq. A year spent in Sierra Leone, where I helped design a veterans’ compensation scheme, gave me valuable experience in welfare provision and advocating for those who have served their country.

My final nine years in the Army were spent within Defence Business Services, located in HMS SULTAN, where I managed large-scale change across Ministry of Defence HR management systems. Following promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, I served as the Chief of Staff until my retirement in 2022. This role strengthened my ability to lead, manage budgets, and deliver effective, accountable services.

For the past ten years I have lived on Priddy’s Hard and have been proud to serve as the founding Chair of the Friends of Hardway. Living locally has given me a clear view of the challenges our community faces, from anti-social behaviour to fly-tipping, often made worse by reduced local resources. One of my proudest achievements has been helping to deliver free summer watersports events for Gosport families, bringing people together and supporting community spirit.

 

Through speaking with residents, it is clear to me that Gosport is ready for change. Too many people feel let down by a lack of transparency and accountability in local decision-making. I believe we need leadership that is open, responsible, and focused firmly on the needs of local people.

I am standing with Reform UK because I believe in restoring accountability, strong financial management, and clear purpose to the council. Gosport deserves better — and I am committed to working hard to help deliver it.
